If you have a few spare hours a week and would like to use them in a way which will make a real difference to the lives of people with mobility problems, our partner organisation, Community Action Dacorum, is looking for volunteer drivers to support older residents, and those with disabilities, in their daily lives and to help them feel less socially isolated.
There is currently a particular need in the Berkhamsted and Tring area. Trips would include taking people to attend hospital, doctors’ or dentists’ appointments, to do their shopping, to go to the hairdresser, to attend social clubs or day centres or to visit sick friends or relatives.
Volunteers can use their own cars and will be paid mileage expenses or alternatively drive a mini-bus.
Alternatively why not help Community Action Dacorum deliver its Community Car service by volunteering for a few hours on a Tuesday to take telephone bookings and contact drivers.
Please contact us at the Volunteer Centre Dacorum on 01442 247209 or 214734 or come and see us at The Roundhouse. We would be delighted to tell you more about the opportunity.
