Bus Buddy Volunteer

Could you spare 4 hours on a Thursday?

Would you like to work with local elderly people and help make a big difference in your community?

If so, we need you!

Age UK Dacorum, Arriva, Osborne and the Volunteer Centre have come togther to launch a new service. We are looking for volunteers to pilot this brand new community scheme! It has been recognised that many elderly people do not feel comfortable using busses as they are nervous of getting on and off either with or without ramp access. They may also struggle get to their seats and communicate with the driver if they need more time.
You would become a bus buddy on the Arriva Number 2 route each Thursday to help elderly people with these concerns. You will need to be reliable, caring, have a passion for working with the elderly and be ready to give hands on help to passengers who require it.

If this sounds like you and you want to find out more, please contact Richard Pitts at the Volunteer Centre: richard@volunteerdacorum.org

If interested, you will be asked to attend an information and informal interview session in September at Florence Longman House,
Weymouth Street, Hemel Hempstead, HP39SN.

You could be part of helping local elderly people get back into their community – we can’t wait to  hear from you!
